What to expect:
Initial Meeting (parent and therapist)
After initial contact (phone/email/etc), we will schedule a meeting. In this meeting, we will go over any remaining questions you may have, as well as, go over policies and applicable documentation. We will also discuss any other applicable topics, including any specifics about your child that could help me to provide the most client centered treatment for your child (i.e., likes/dislikes, hobbies, personality traits, preferences, triggers, and/or any other tips and tricks you want to share).
Music Therapy Assessment
Initial sessions (assessment sessions) will be used to assess your child's abilities, characteristics, needs, etc.
Music Therapy Treatment Plan
Once the assessment is complete, a treatment plan will be developed for your child. The Music Therapy Treatment Plan will reflect findings from the assessment, as well as, outline specific goals and objectives for your child.
Meeting
You, the parent/guardian, and I will then meet to go over the Music Therapy Treatment Plan so that you can know what we are working on in sessions. We will also cover any questions, suggestions, and/or feedback you may have.
Treatment sessions
Remaining sessions (referred to as "treatment sessions") will be dedicated to working on the goals and objectives outlined in your child's Music Therapy Treatment Plan.
Music Therapy Progress Updates
-Progress Updates are provided every few months, depending on case specific variables. Progress Updates are formal documentation of progress of goals/objectives outlined in your child's treatment plan. The parent/guardian and Music Therapist typically schedule a meeting to go over findings, answer questions, get/give feedback, and discuss any revisions and/or new goals/objectives to be added.
-In addition to the formal Music Therapy Progress Updates, informal verbal and/or written updates are provided as well (brief post session Q/A's, weekly/periodic emails, etc).
Payment Options
I accept private pay and third party reimbursement, as well (funding through charity, grants, other assistance, etc). I would be happy to assist you in applying for funding to cover Music Therapy services if needed.

Some other details ...
- I also often consult my client's school IEP, teachers, other therapists and/or the child's parent/guardian regarding concepts that are being taught in your child's class so that I may incorporate, when possible, some of the same concepts in your child's MT treatment sessions. I find that consistency, repetition, and reinforcement are important. I obtain formal written permission from the parent/guardian before sharing such information (information sharing is optional to the parent/guardian, not required).
- I welcome parent insight and feedback all along the way. Although I know some things as the therapist, as a mom myself, I absolutely know that your child is your primary area of study and heart!
